About Dr. Wolford

Dr. Wolford is a practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas where he has helped thousands of patients live the best life that they can by treating TMJ dysfunction, obstructive sleep apnea, and craniofacial abnormalities. He is renowned as a global leader and innovator of the orthognathic “corrective jaw” surgery. More than half of his patients are referred to him from around the world. With his 40 years of experience, he is known for providing compassionate care and by using innovative surgical procedures.

Maybe a dentist or health care professional has already told you that you have temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) or suffer from a craniofacial abnormality. If you are not sure whether you have one of these health problems, here is what you can look for:

TMJ

TMJ occurs when the jaw falls into a state of dysfunction. Symptoms range from pain in the jaw joints, when chewing or opening the jaw, lockjaw, frequent headaches of migraine-like intensity, tooth pain, and even pain that radiates from the head to the neck. TMJ can result in such widespread discomfort or chronic pain that primary care physicians can misdiagnose it. Therefore, if you suffer from any of these symptoms associated with TMJ, you need proper treatment for this disorder.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

OSA can affect your quality of life because you essentially are not getting enough air when you breathe at night. OSA sufferers experience an airway blockage, to varying degrees, which restricts airflow while sleeping. One of the most common symptoms of OSA is chronic fatigue. Do you feel tired all of the time, even when you go to bed early? Do you have trouble focusing, seem forgetful, and even irritable without no other explanation? This could be because you are not getting quality sleep, and your body is suffering because of it. OSA sometimes needs to be treated by surgical methods. Dr. Wolford is an expert in the surgical management of nasal airway obstruction.

Craniofacial Abnormalities

Craniofacial abnormalities may include anything from a birth defect, genetic abnormalities to a traumatic injury. Dr. Wolford uses his surgical techniques to reconstruct an aesthetic facial profile for patients suffering from an unfavorable craniofacial abnormality. From repairing cleft palates, to complete reconstruction of the face due to a traumatic injury, Dr. Wolford is the world’s best surgeon for you.
